Early Vedic Aryans were organised into tribes as an alternative to kingdoms. The chief of the tribe was named a rajan. The autonomy with the rajan was limited with the tribal councils termed sabha and samiti. The 2 bodies had been, partially, to blame for the governance from the tribe. The rajan could not accede towards the throne without the need
